James Wood College Football Players

The following is a roundup of former James Wood athletes who played college football this year. 

Chris Alaniz (Norfolk State) — As a freshman, Alaniz was an offensive lineman for a Spartans team that went 3-9 overall and 3-5 in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference.

David Alaniz (Minot State) — As a sophomore, Alaniz was a tight end for a Beavers team that went 2-9.

Erik Bearer (Alderson-Broaddus) — As a freshman, the offensive lineman played in four games for a Battlers team that went 4-7.

Chandler DeHaven (Bridgewater) — As a sophomore, the kicker made 13 field goals (which tied a school-record and was sixth in Division III) on 18 attempts (72 percent) with a long of 46, and 28 of 29 extra points. DeHaven was named to the VaSID first team, the D3football.com South Region first team, and the ODAC first team.

A.J. Eubank (Randolph-Macon) — As a sophomore, Eubank was a linebacker for a Yellow Jackets team that went 7-3 overall and 5-2 in the ODAC.

Brett Lewin (Alderson-Broaddus) — Lewis was a freshman on the Battlers’ roster this year.

Andrew Lloyd (Eastern Kentucky) — As a junior, the kicker made 8 of 10 field goals with a long of 49, 19 of 19 extra points, and averaged 60.5 yards and had 15 touchbacks on 49 kickoffs for a Colonels team that went 6-6 overall and 4-4 in the Ohio Valley Conference.

Mel Savarese (Hampden-Sydney) — As a sophomore, the tight end played in one game.

Trae Tinsman (Shepherd) — As a junior, the quarterback completed 68 of 116 passes for 890 yards, eight touchdowns and two interceptions.
